GROUNDWORK

Screen Shot 2014-05-24 at 12.55.46 PM

We’ve started digging swale-bowls for our 12 mature Jujubes at the farm. Rotted horse manure will be laid in as mulch next week. The mulch should radically reduce evaporation; the swale should catch and hold water moving downslope across the sand during one of our rare downpours; the bowl should help keep the mulch from flying away in the wind, and from being covered by sand. The tree is fruiting. Photo by Stephanie
