FROM PROJECT BOBCAT —
California’s bobcat trapping season opens on Sunday, November 24, 2013—post NO TRAPPING/NO HUNTING signage at private property borders.
Although the October 2013 signing of assembly Bill 1213, which Governor Jerry Brown establishes a no-trapping zone in the vicinity of Joshua Tree National Park, and directs the state’s Fish and Game Commission to establish similar zones around other places in the state where wildlife is protected, the law will not be enforced until January 1st, 2014. California’s bobcat trapping season opens on Sunday, November 24, 2013. Registered trappers (and hunters) may legally trap in and around Joshua Tree and other sensitive areas in our state until January 1st, 2014.
If you are a property owner in an area with an active bobcat population please consider posting highly visible NO HUNTING/NO TRAPPING signs along your property borders. Trapping and hunting is not allowed nor legal in private property where signs have been properly posted. This is especially important in areas with no fenced boundaries. Be watchful and let these individuals know that they are not welcome in our community! It is important to note that residents just outside the new no-trapping zones may find an increase in trapper activity after January 1, 2014 so please post signs in these areas.
Here is a aluminum sign based on a Pioneertown resident’s custom design purchased through Safety Signs for $22 each + S/H. http://www.safetysign.com/ Send the photo to them and order a few for your property boundaries.
