Sun Aug 21 5pm: A visit with Beekeeper Bill Blackburn of 29 Palms

Nicholas Holmes writes to the Hi-Desert Barnraisers email list:

This Sunday, August 21st Beekeeper Bill Blackburn is hosting an educational tour of his amazing hi-desert garden and open house tour of his house just listed for sale. Don’t miss this great event.

Bill is an avid permaculturalist and organic gardener who’s had great success
creating a diverse and abundant desert garden at his 2 1/2-acre property near the national park entrance in 29 Palms. A master of mulching and vermiculture, Bill transformed his gravelly sandy grounds around his house into a lush desert oasis, successfully growing a diverse garden including peaches, apricots, pomegranates, almonds, grapes, citrus, dates, goji berries, pineapple, ginger, canna, and
vegetables and herbs galore. All without growshacks or even a single
fence.

We will be meeting at Bill’s house at 5pm for an approximately 1
hour guided educational tour of his garden and house:

74429 Sunset Drive
Twentynine Palms, CA 92277

Please carpool!

After years invested in creating this amazing garden, Bill is choosing to move on to other things in life and will be selling his garden (and the house along with it of course). If you know of anyone who might be interested, please pass this email along.
