There’s little grubs inside these towers that grew overnight from deep cracks in the concrete slab after recent rains. Termites???
We get the same stuff on some outside furniture, breaks right off, but really weird the way it ‘grows’. We thought termites as well….
New best guess is a kind of subterranean termite. Good info here on ID and what to do: http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/PESTNOTES/pn7415.html
Yeah it could be subterranean termites. You might want to pull a few boards off the shack to see what’s going on in the walls. The age and condition of the shack make it a prime target. The way it’s built on the slab is also a weakness for water infiltration during rains. Might need to tent it to save it. It’s really the only way.
… well not the only way but they can do some damage if left unchecked.
