Encounter With a Giant Desert Hairy

There was a Giant Desert Hairy Scorpion (Hadrurus arizonensis) in the vegetable garden. I was unprepared for the size of this guy (maybe four inches long?), the speed of its movements (fast), and its intentions (not interested in humans), and over-reacted with a shovel…

I now understand that this species’ sting is barely venomous. Next time I’ll let him be.
