Dealing with the scourge of illegal off-road vehicles

Several times a week we see off-road vehicles being operated illegally in BLM land near where we live, including the wash where we know that wild desert tortoises habitate. I’m going to attend this meeting next Monday to see what is being done about this scourge.

Community ORV Watch: Next Monday, November 22, 6:00 p.m., at the Joshua Tree Community Center

You probably remember that last March, the San Bernardino County Supervisors voted to eliminate the Staging Permit section of the County ordinance on off-highway vehicles. OHV abuse continues to be a problem across the Morongo Basin on both private and public property. If you have any concerns or curiosity about the current situation, you need to attend this meeting. It will be a rare opportunity to hear from relevant government officials including the Sheriff’s Department, Code Enforcement, BLM, Highway Patrol, Supervisor Neil Derry’s office, and the local District Attorney. Audience members will also have opportunities to ask questions and make comments.
